In a way, we live in the golden age of the freight industry. There are so many companies that offer innovative and unique shipping services. For many businesses, it can be difficult choosing the best freight company for their needs. That’s why the FreightTech 100 list was created, to help shine a light on the best companies in the industry. 

What is the FreightTech 100

The FreightTech 100 list is a yearly list created by FreightWaves, designed to shine a light on logistic companies that are helping move the industry forward. This list wants to recognize any companies that are excelling in the industry. By doing so, they shine a light on companies that provide both excellent customer service as well as logistic services. 

According to the CEO of FreightWaves, Craig Fuller “We choose the FreightTech 100 based solely on merit. These companies are shaking up the industry in new and exciting ways. This is not a ‘pay-to-play’ competition,” Fuller said. “We want to recognize the most innovative and disruptive companies out there.”

How is the FreightTech 100 Determined

It’s very important for FreightWaves to point out that this is not a pay-to-win list. For the latest list, FreightWaves received more than 1,500 nominations for 423 different companies. Each and every company is considered during an internal voting process that includes FreightWaves analysts, researchers, market experts, and journalists. The top 100 list is then sent to a third-party auditor and accounting firm Katz, Sapper and Millers (KSM). This organization will conduct voting among more than 85 executives, investors, and academics. 

Then, you have the top-25 list. In order to determine the top 25, a point system is used. This list is a list that rewards the industry’s most innovative and disruptive companies. A company will receive 25 points for a first-place vote, 24 points for a second-place vote, and so on and so forth. The winners will be announced on November 3rd.

As you can tell, there is a healthy mix of older, established companies and newer ones. A nice mixture of new and old companies provides a fresh perspective on the shipping industry.
